Student government elections have generated one of the highest turnouts in recent years, with 4,024 ballots cast as of 4 p.m. Tuesday. Last years election total number of votes was 3,034.

Matt Strauch, director of Legislative Affairs and public relations spokesman for the Associated Students of CSU, said he attributed the turnout to all four campaigns reaching a different demographic of students and the outreach to freshmen students.

“I think we might get a historic turnout this time,” Strauch said.

A pamphlet was distributed to the dorms comprised of the four Forever Green T-shirt designs and statements from each of the four campaigns. The pamphlets were distributed in student’s mailboxes Monday.

“I just think each campaign has done a really remarkable job in the outreach they’ve all done, especially with student organizations,” Strauch said. “I’m excited to see so many students make the effort to vote,” he said.
