A woman is in critical condition after she ran in front of a semi-truck on Interstate-25 near Fort Collins Sunday morning.

Investigators with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office believe the woman, whose name has not been released, was trying to commit suicide. At about 7 a.m., she parked a car on the northbound side of the interstate just north of the Prospect Road interchange and stepped into oncoming traffic.

“According to witness statements and initial investigation, she attempted to step in front of a north bound semi-truck. That truck swerved to avoid impact,” a press release said. “She then immediately proceeded to run in front of a second north bound semi-truck. That driver also took evasive action swerving into the median, but the female made contact with the passenger side front/corner of the truck and sustained serious injury.”

The extent of the woman’s injuries is unknown, but she was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies.

No one else was injured, and no further information is available at this time.
