Limited information is being released to the public after a rash of vandalism to cars struck Fort Collins near Overland Trail, Mulberry Street, Shields Street and Drake Road.
Fort Collins Police Services spokeswoman Rita Davis said she could not release any information because the investigation is ongoing.
“Nobody has been formally arrested,†Davis said.
However, businesses in the area, such as Pitcher’s Sports Restaurant and Match-Ups Pool Hall said this was the first time they had heard about this problem, and they were unaware that this was even happening in the area.
The damage, which included rocks thrown through the windows of parked cars, occurred Jan. 27 between 7 and 8:30 p.m. There are currently a total of 17 cars that have been reported with estimated damages adding to $8,000, according to a FCPS press release.
“It’s not uncommon to have this happen,†Davis said. “If your vehicles are parked outside, they are often times targets. Property damage is probably one of the most frequent crimes we get.â€
Anyone who received damage to their vehicle and has not yet reported it is asked to contact Officer Kristie Allen at (970) 221-6555.Â
