Air Force:

The three-game losing streak for the Air Force football team (6-4, 3-3) ended on Saturday as the Falcons took care of archrival Army 42-22 in West Pointe, N.Y. to capture the Commander-in-Chief Trophy.

Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson only completed 3 of 7 pass attempts, but threw for 124 yards and touchdowns of 53 and 63 yards.

Brigham Young:

The No. 18 BYU women’s soccer team (16-3-2, 5-1-1) captured the 2010 MWC championship on Saturday, defeating top-seeded New Mexico 1-0 in San Diego.

Sophomore midfielder Jessica Ringwood scored the game-winning goal in the game’s 62 minute. She was also named the MWC Tournament MVP.

New Mexico:

For the first time since Nov. 21, 2009, the New Mexico football team (1-8, 1-4) won a game, ending a nine-game losing streak by defeating Wyoming 34-31 on Saturday.

Though the Lobos gave up 536 yards of total offense to the Cowboys, New Mexico forced four turnovers, including three fumbles.

New Mexico will head up Interstate 25 to face Air Force next weekend.

San Diego State:

It took a comeback, but the SDSU volleyball team (13-13, 6-6) rallied to defeat BYU 3-2 on Sunday, thanks in large part to strong defense by Kristi Jackels, who had 32 digs.

The Aztecs lost the first two sets 25-16 and 25-20, but it was a 32-30 victory in Set 3 that turned the tide for SDSU.

SDSU is now in fourth place in the MWC standings.

TCU:

Despite thumping Utah, ranked No. 5 at the time, 47-7 in Salt Lake City on Saturday, TCU (10-0, 6-0) remained at No. 3 in the latest BCS rankings that were released on Sunday, behind No. 2 Auburn and No. 1 Oregon.

The Horned Frogs senior quarterback, Andy Dalton, was named the national offensive Player of the Week in the win. Dalton threw for a career-high 355 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the win.

UNLV:

The UNLV women’s basketball team will play its only exhibition game of the season tonight as the Lady Rebels host Grand Canyon University.

UNLV was picked to finish the 2010-11 season in seventh place in the final MWC standings, ahead of CSU and Air Force, picked Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.

Utah:

The Utah men’s basketball team scraped out an exhibition victory over Division II Adams State on Friday, 84-74.

Junior forward Will Clyburn and guard Josh Watkins scored 28 and 22 points, respectively, for the Utes to lead them to victory.

Utah will conclude exhibition play this Friday against Grand Canyon University.

Wyoming:

The Wyoming men’s basketball team captured a dominating exhibition win on Saturday, defeating the Peru State Bobcats 100-55 in Laramie.

Sophomore forward Amath M’Baye led the way for the Cowboys with a double-double, scoring 19 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.

Star junior forward Afam Muojeke did not play.
