Colorado State University’s Homecoming weekend saw an increase in student participation and changes to post-parade celebration.

More than 50 floats weaved through the backstreets of Old Town, around the Oval and through campus on Friday afternoon. The floats were crafted by members of residence halls, restaurants, sports teams, bands, radio stations, Greek life and clubs.

“Our participation in the parade was up. Student entries were up. Four years ago there was less than ten entries when we had it on Saturday morning,” said Matt Helmer, executive director of CSU Events.

Immediately following the parade, CSU lit a bonfire and held a pep rally hosted by Amy Van Dyken, 1996 and 2000 Olympic swimmer and CSU graduate.

At the bonfire both the CSU football and volleyballs teams made speeches asking for attendance at their games.
