Those students and community members who showed up to Hughes Stadium got a treat this weekend.
Nope, we’re not talking about the supple buttocks cheeks supported only by green and gold spandex flaunted by the random faux-streaker during CSU’s win over Idaho on Saturday.
We’re talking about – you guessed it – the Rams’ victory. Yes, you read it right, a win over the Idaho Vandals after the faux-streaker ran right to a police officer on Saturday.
We’ll admit, we weren’t super optimistic about a win over the Vandals, given the first three games of the season and the way last season turned out. But hey, we’re also more than happy to apologize to the football team for being doubting Thomases.
And yes, we did just compare the CSU football team to Jesus – now if only Pete Thomas, who threw for 386 yards and three touchdowns on the day, could turn some water into tequila for us.
All sacrilege aside, the rammies put on quite the show Saturday. Sure the defense was a little rough, but it came through when it needed to, and that Ram offense really was something to behold when it finally clicked.
Not to mention snapping that 12-game losing streak and putting that “W†in the win/loss column really does feel good. One-game winning streak, anyone?
Plus, in spite of the Rams’ not-so-impressive performance prior to Saturday, students and community members turned out in orange droves to support the team and that was pretty cool in its own right.
So congratulations, CSU football team, and thanks for making us skeptics look silly. And get ready Ram fans, a new era of CSU football is upon us. No. 5 TCU comes to Sonny Lubick Field on Saturday. Anyone smell an upset?
