CSU point guard Jesse Carr can breathe a sigh of relief as it was announced that the Mountain West Conference will grant him a medical hardship waiver, allowing him to enter the upcoming basketball season as a redshirt sophomore.

The Ainsworth, Neb. native quickly became a star during his freshman campaign in 2008-2009, averaging 8.8 points per game in 18 starts. He played a total of 25 games that season and led the team in assists, but a hip injury caused him to miss the final six games of his freshman year.

Last season, Carr only played in four games in December, but re-aggravated his injury and missed the entire conference schedule.

When the Rams tipoff their 2010-2011 season, Carr will join a deep back court for CSU with fellow sophomores Dorian Green and Wes Eikmeier and senior Adam Nigon.
Carr and Green will likely battle for the starting point guard position.
