CSU undeclared sophomore John Hunter Hauck was found dead by his roommates at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in his off-campus Fort Collins home.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported that Hauck, 20, died from an overdose after consuming alcohol, marijuana and possibly prescription medicine. But the Larimer County Coroner’s Office is still awaiting the toxicology results before determining the final cause of death.

Haucks’s father, Alex Hunter, was the former Boulder Defense Attorney who gained fame by initially investigating the death of Jon Benet Ramsey.

“The CSU Community extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends,” said Dell Rae Moellenberg, a CSU spokesperson, in a written statement.

CSU Students and employees can find counseling and support through CSU Health Network at (970) 491-6053 and the employee assistance program at (800) 497-9133.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office and Fort Collins Police Services could not be reached by the Collegian as of late Wednesday afternoon.
