Scanning through classifieds can be a sketchy and uncomfortable task when searching for a place to live. Who is this person? What if they already found someone? What if they’re messy?
The thoughts can be overwhelming.
Fortunately for those students looking for somewhere to live or someone to live with, CSU is putting on the Roommate Roundup to make the search for off-campus living easier. Students who already have a place or are looking for someone who does will be able to meet face-to-face and interview potential housemates.
“It’s just an opportunity for people to come together who are having trouble finding a roommate,†said Caitlin McAleer, who works at Off-Campus Life.
Attendees will be sorted with different colored name tags to pair up those with places with people who don’t.
“I call it speed dating for finding a roommate,†McAleer added.
Prospective house or apartment leasers and those who’ve been stuck with a place and no one to help pay rent are highly encouraged to attend. Older students who are sick of their current living situation are also welcome.
The event will take place tonight in room 195 in the Lory Student Center from 5 to 6 p.m. Roommate Roundup will be held once a week after that in order to allow those who were not as successful to try again.
“Having them every week allows people who didn’t have good luck one week to meet a new group of people the next week,†McAleer said.
