CSU tennis player Laura Neal was named the Mountain West Conference’s Women’s Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Neal, who’s ranked as the team’s No. 1 singles player and is on the Rams’ top doubles squad, helped CSU earn a 5-2 victory over Northern Arizona in a dual match Saturday.

In her singles match, Neal, a senior from Portland, Ore., defeated Orsi Golovics in two sets, putting a jump-start on the comeback win for CSU.

Also on Saturday, Neal, along with partner Caitlin Fluegge, upset the Lumberjacks’ doubles team of Golovics and Mila Wahinepio. Golovics and Wahinepio are ranked as the No. 35 doubles team in the country.

Currently riding a three dual-winning streak, the Rams travel to Las Cruces, N.M. on Friday to face the New Mexico State Aggies before making the short trip to El Paso, Texas, where they’ll face UTEP and Lamar on Saturday and Sunday.
