The CSU Police Department is searching for a man who allegedly touched a female student inappropriately outside her residence hall Thursday.

In a press release, CSU spokesperson Dell Rae Moellenberg said detectives are looking for the university community’s help in finding the man described as “a black male about 5 feet 8 inches tall, heavyset, between 35-40 years of age.”

He was wearing blue jeans and a tan jacket, she said, with a navy blue baseball hat and was last seen running west on Plum Street toward Shields Street. There is no evidence that he constitutes an ongoing threat on campus, she said.

CSUPD believes he may live or work in the area, Moellenberg said, and anyone with information about this, or similar, incidents should contact CSUPD Detective Adam Smith at 970-491-2013.

Moellenberg said CSUPD reminds people to be aware when walking on campus, avoid using distractions such as earphones or texting after dark and use the university’s Safewalk program, which runs from dusk to 1 a.m.
