Student government will hold a pep rally for Ram fans today in the Lory Student Center Plaza to incite enthusiasm for the Athletic Department’s flagship game, the Rocky Mountain Showdown, which will be played at Folsom Field in Boulder Sunday.
Athletes, cheerleaders, coaches, department employees and members of student government will grill buffalo burgers and provide other food, free of charge, to students and faculty, calling attention to the long-standing rivalry between CSU and CU-Boulder.
April Ragland, ASCSU’s director of Student Services and organizer of the event, said “Grill the Buffs,” which began four years ago under then-student government Vice President Sadie Conrad, has increased school spirit and unity since its creation.
“It’s a big tradition that everyone recognizes when they hear the name,” Ragland said. “People get excited for the game and there is free food.”
Sophomore psychology major Nicolle Smith said the event offers CSU students a chance to come together.
“I think Grill the Buffs is a good way to show how much we all support our team and our school,” Smith said.
