The CSU track and field team was split into two meets over the weekend, at CU-Boulder and Arizona State, and the team was successful in both trips.
In Tempe, Ariz. at the Sun Angel Track Classic two dominant CSU runners, Ryan Friese and Wil Buchanan, finished in third and fifth in the men’s 800-meter run, respectively. Tanesha Johnson had a strong showing, finishing second in the triple jump later in the afternoon.
The throwers had a good day to compliment the runners. Jennifer Ugochukwu competed in the shot put and came in third with a throw just over 46 feet. Also in throws were fourth place finishes in the discus by Missy Faubus with a mark of 165 feet, Meagan Berg in the hammer with a mark of 182 feet, and Alex Godell in the hammer with a throw of 208 feet.
In the CU Invitational there were many first place finishes for CSU. Rachel Saunders vaulted up to 3.5 meters and Doug Dieker made it over 4.55 meters. The four men that team up for the 4×100 meter relay won.
It was the same story for the women’s discus, as Stacey Robben picked up a win with a throw of 44.16 meters. Nicole Peters reached the regional-qualifying mark with a time of 11:04.77 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
