An unidentified man was released from the hospital and taken to the Larimer County Detention Center Saturday afternoon after he ran from the police onto Shields Street and was hit by a police car called in to assist in the chase.
The man, who has several outstanding felony warrants, left his car and ran from the Larimer County Sherriff’s Office when stopped at a routine traffic stop in the area of Horsetooth and Shields Street in Fort Collins.
Clearly, when an officer says stop, you stop,” LCSO Sergeant Bill Howe said.
Officers chased the man on foot for several blocks until he diverted through a nearby apartment complex and ran out into the street. He was struck by LCSO’s K-9 vehicle at 4:30 p.m., which was transporting the canine unit to assist in the pursuit.
LCSO transported the man to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he was declared injury-free upon arrival.
The man’s name, age and outstanding warrants are unknown.
