Senior goaltender Garrett Fitzgerald made a career-high 19 saves to help the second-ranked CSU men’s club lacrosse team beat fifth-ranked Oregon 8-4 Tuesday afternoon on the intramural fields east of the Student Recreation Center in front of a crowd of about 500.

The victory comes 10 months after the Ducks ended the Rams’ season in the national semifinals last spring. It was also Oregon’s (10-1) first loss of the season.

The Rams (7-2) won the face-off battle, 53-35, and held the Ducks scoreless for the game’s first 20 minutes.

CSU’s Luke Cantwell scored with two seconds left in the second quarter to cap off a 3-0 run by the Rams to end the first half, putting them ahead 7-3.

Sophomore Kevin Wolff scored one goal and recorded three assists. CSU will play at home again Thursday at 4 p.m. against No. 13 Cal Poly.
