Sweets for your Sweetie

There doesn’t seem to be any better holiday to make these dangerously delicious delights than Valentine’s Day.

Of course, it is cutting it awfully close for that bikini-body everyone wants for spring break – now only a mere 30 days away.

But I highly recommend being naughty for a day.

And enjoy some cookies while you’re at it.

These completely from-scratch cookies are to die for. And no wonder, they are my mom’s recipe.

To make your cookies more festive, cut them into heart shapes.

My best friend, Laurel and I, frosted these while dishing about our lives.

I recommend making them with a friend and sharing them with your Valentine.

Just make sure you have a nice cold glass of milk to go with them.

Sugar Cookies:

2/3-cup margarine

1 egg

1-teaspoon vanilla

4-teaspoons milk

1-teaspoon baking powder

_ cup sugar

/ teaspoon salt

2 cups flour

Pre-heat oven at 375 F.

Combine wet ingredients with powered mixer

Add dry ingredients and mix well

Tasty Tip: Dough should clump together, but not be super sticky. If it is, add more flour.

Chill dough for one hour

Roll out dough and (with cookie cutters) cut into shapes

Bake on a non-stick cookie sheet for about 5 minutes, or until cookies are soft and a whitish color.

Cream Cheese Frosting:

About / stick margarine at room temperature

About / stick cream cheese at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla

Lots of powdered sugar

Combine wet ingredients with powered mixer

Add about / cup powdered sugar at a time

Continue adding powdered sugar until frosting is thick and tastes good.

Tasty Tip: After you’ve added about 2 cups of sugar, taste! Make sure its yummy.

Add color and mix well.

Frost cooled cookies and serve.
