Last week, the CSU women’s basketball team hired Dick Lien as a new assistant coach.
Lien brings more than 40 years of coaching experience that includes numerous stops overseas.
Lien is the latest of several additions added to a program that finished 9-20 and in second to last place a year ago. Four incoming freshmen and six transfers have been added to the roster since the end of last season.
“We are pleased to welcome coach Lien to the Ram family,” coach Jen Warden said in a statement last week. “Dick has tremendous experience and a knack for teaching the game. I know he is as excited to get started as we are to have him here.”
The Minnesota native comes most recently from Woodbury Senior High School of Woodbury, Minn. Before that, Lien spent time as the head coach of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia National Team.
Lien’s other international experience includes time in Denmark, Austria and Belgium. Coach Warden’s newest assistant has also made several stops at the collegiate level, including a stint as an assistant at the University of Wyoming from 1986-93 and three seasons as the head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Lien began work last Monday.
