Some records last forever, whereas others end days after they are set. For CSU students, today is a day where a new record can be set.

Led by the Student Alumni Connection, the Green Machine cheering section will be unveiled for the first time during the volleyball team’s Border War match against Wyoming. And what better way to kick off a new CSU tradition than by setting a Moby Arena record for volleyball attendance? The current record of 6,260 fans, which was set in 1988, may seem like an impossible task, but if Ram fans come together, we could easily smash the record.

While we know there are many other things to do on a Thursday night, none of them are as important as setting a school record.

“Grey’s Anatomy” doesn’t come close to the entertainment value of watching Mekana Barnes spiking a ball straight into the Cowgirl’s defense. The bloodshed of “CSI” is nothing like the potential carnage of Wyoming, considering the Rams are going into the game with 17 straight victories over the northern rival. And the bars of Old Town will have hardly opened by the time the CSU spikers have finished off the Pokes.

At a school that is so devoid of athletic tradition, it is time for Ram fans to step up to the plate and take it upon themselves to inaugurate the new student section in style.
