Governor Bill Owens declared April 18 “I love CSU Day” and students celebrated with eating contests, relay races and an ultimate Ram fan contest.
“I love CSU day” is one day out a weeklong series of events to celebrate what it means to be a Ram.
“It is a chance to bring students together and have CSU spirit,” said Shannon Donaldson, associate director of marketing for the Associated Students of CSU. Green and Gold Week includes games, entertainment and all things CSU. The week culminates with the “Green and Gold Football Game,” a scrimmage between CSU’s offense and defense.
“It’s like a spring homecoming for CSU,” said Anne Fellini, who coordinated the event with ASAP. “It is a way for ASCSU, ASAP and Student Alumni Connections to build pride on campus and bring it out into the community.”
On Thursday, Thomas Haines, a CSU alumnus, will speak on his recent climb up Mount Everest.
“It is a great way to show where CSU students have succeeded,” Fellini said.
Yellowcard and Mae add a special gold sparkle to the week with their concert on Saturday at Moby Arena.
