I am a Scientologist and have been my entire life. I've found that things in my life tend to go badly when I am not directly using Scientology to make them better. In particular, every day I use study methods developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, to do better in school.
These study methods save me the extra work of hopelessly reading the same page over and over, of having to get other people to explain my textbooks to me, and the other inconvenient attempts for understanding what we students are apt to try. In short, Scientology actually helps me and has armed me with the ability to help others in their studies too, something I've done countless times.
Scientology is all about learning to help others. Scientology has programs implemented worldwide that improve literacy, permanently get people off drugs, promote human rights, etc. They don't point the finger at others; they take responsibility for society's condition and work to make it a better place to live.
From my experience with Scientology, I can safely say that I can't see how someone could attack such a group that is obviously doing so much to improve the condition of society and to actually help others.
