Monday's article, "Witness: Man ejaculates in Morgan Library," was an example of poor judgment on the part of the Collegian's editorial staff.
Students of CSU should certainly be made aware of troubling issues on campus, but they should be reported with professionalism and sensitivity. A professional article should not include phrases such as "semen-spattered computer" and "splash semen all over the place." The reporter also included quotes that appeared to only exist to get a laugh. I recall one about Kleenex. This is no laughing matter, as noted by the editorial board's column on the same day.
The lead story in a newspaper is not an arena for locker room jokes. Not everyone was offended, but not everyone was laughing either. Editors, please keep CSU's newspaper professional.
