Senior Melissa Dennett scored 20 points or more for the fifth time this season and the CSU women's basketball team broke a seven-game losing streak, beating the San Diego State Aztecs on their own floor, 68-55.

The Rams had not won a game since Jan. 5 when the Aztecs came to Moby Arena and lost 68-65. The Aztecs (3-16, 0-9 MWC) have accounted for the only conference victories by the Rams (8-12, 2-7) this season.

The Rams were in control of the score almost all night, but the Aztecs had their moments. After surrendering 10 unanswered points to the Rams in the opening minutes, the Aztecs responded with a 13-4 run of their own to enjoy a short lead.

Later, trailing by 14 points with 8:26 remaining in the game, SDSU went on a 10-0 run to pull within four. The Rams, however, were able to find their composure and hit nine consecutive free throw shots to secure the win.

"We couldn't have played any harder – we gave everything we had right up until the last buzzer," SDSU head coach Beth Burns said in a press release.

Dennett grabbed five rebounds to go along with her game-high 25 points. Junior guard Molly Nohr's 13 was second on the team for the Rams while senior Lindsay Thomas contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Center Marilyn Moulton got to start for only the second time in her career and recorded a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Aztecs had two players score double digits in the game, including starting guard Michelle Strawberry and Veronica Shaw, who added 15 and 12 points in the losing effort, respectively.

Next up for the Rams will be the New Mexico Lobos on Feb. 8 in Albuquerque, N.M. CSU fell to the Lobos when they came to Moby on Jan. 7, but look to build off their recent win.
