And then there was one.
Judges at the Aggie Theater announced Thursday morning the winner of Battlerusa Fort Collins, where six bands competed for a chance to perform at the Wakarusa music and camping festival in June.
Deliberation was held back until 6 a.m., when it was announced that the local band Prism was the first of 18 band winners from around the country. The next step will be to compete in a performance slot at the four-day summer festival, taking place in Lawrence, Kan.
The Midwest festival attracts over 20,000 music lovers and this year will host over 70 artists.
Prism band members, Stuart Allen (bass), Sean Cohen (guitar), Mark Palke (keys/synth Fx) and Jacob Smith (drums), will have an opportunity Feb. 9 and 10 in Lawrence to compete against the other 17 winners for a track on the Wakarusa 2006 compilation album.
Battlerusa continues to make its way across the country with the next stop Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
