Before the 2005-06 basketball season has even begun, the team is minus one. Guard Marquie Cook was permanently dismissed from the team on Friday, according to a CSU athletic media release. Cook didn't even get the chance to play for the Rams as he transferred early this semester from Virginia Tech. When he arrived, coaches and players alike were excited to have a player of his caliber coming to the program.
"Unfortunately, things did not work out as I had hoped," said head coach Dale Layer in a press release. "I felt it was in the best interests of our basketball program to make this decision at this time. I wish Marquie the best of luck in his future endeavors."
CSU officials are not at liberty to provide further comment on this issue, according to the release.
