CSU President Larry Penley invited higher-education students Thursday, whose education was frozen by Hurricane Katrina to continue their education here.

"We have extended an offer to admit students displaced from Tulane and other Southern universities that have been hard-hit by this disaster," he said in an email message Thursday night. "Our plan is to work with such students on a case-by-case basis to address their academic and housing needs … realizing that many of them may only plan to be here for a semester or two."

The CSU Alumni Association has also reached out to more than 800 of the university's alumni who live in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi – about 320 of whom live in the Gulf Coast region, Penley said in the message.
