Just under a month from now, Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium will open and show off its new look. Thanks to the $15.2 million donated by the Bohemian Foundation in 2003, the renovations to the stadium are well underway.
A year ago, more than 4,000 seats were added to the north end of the stadium, along with two new scoreboards and a video board. Sept. 24 will mark the first home football game of the 2005 season. A renovated press box, 12 luxury suites and an expanded club seating area will be completed.
"It looks fantastic," Senior Associate Athletic Director Gary Ozzello said. "I don't think we realized it was going to look so different. Now that it's almost finished, the changes are dramatic."
Construction crews are currently installing carpet, countertops and finishing up the job in time for Ram Fan Fest on Sept. 17.
