Escaping the snow and freezing temperatures of Colorado, the CSU softball team will head to the warmer weather of California in its first tournament of the spring season this week.
The Rams will travel to San Louis Obispo to battle Cal Poly and Nevada today.
The team will then take the field in the Mustang Round Up Friday through Sunday, where it will once again face Cal Poly and Nevada, but will also play Arkansas and Sacramento State.
The Rams, who were picked to tie Brigham Young for second place in the Mountain West Preseason Poll, have been practicing since Jan. 10 to prepare for the spring season.
Twelve players return to the Rams roster this year, led by three seniors: second baseman Steph Roberts, shortstop Brittany Burtner and catcher Kerry Farrell.
