After a knee injury prevented Aspen local Gretchen Bleiler from competing in last year's Superpipe event, she returned this year and needed only one run to take gold.
On her first trip down the pipe, Bleiler amassed an 89.00 with a crippler 540, followed by a front-side to backside 540 combo. She ended her run with a huge 720 that was just enough to hold off silver medalist Doriane Vidal.
"I'm so happy with the way I rode tonight, but there's so much more I feel like I can do," Bleiler said on expn.com. "I just learned a 900 a week ago and that's something I want to throw into my run."
