The cross country teams are fresh off a two week break and are

ready to invade Terre Haute, Ind. for the Pre-NCAA Championships

this weekend. The site for these important races is the LaVern

Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports

Center.

In addition to the Rams, there will also be many familiar foes

from the Mountain West Conference at the meet, including Air Force,

BYU, New Mexico and Utah.

“It will be nice to get to see how some of the MWC opponents

run, especially BYU, and it will help prepare us to face them at

the Mountain West Championships and in Nationals,” said senior

Nicole Feest.

The ladies kick off the event with the 6,000-meter race

beginning at 11 a.m. followed by the men’s 8,000 meter at 12:10

p.m.

After both teams posted top-10 finishes in their last meet, the

Roy Griak Invitational, they are looking to earn valuable points

that will get them into the NCAA Finals.

The two teams will be led by Feest and senior Mike Nicks, who

both earned MWC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors following

their impressive performances at the Griak Invitational.

“Our team didn’t run its best at the Invitational, but our

objective for this week is to get business done and beat some

ranked teams to get to nationals,” Feest said.

The Rams will look to keep their momentum going in this meet in

preparation for the MWC Championships on Oct. 30.
