The identity of a sixth man arrested in connection with the

weekend’s riots was released Wednesday morning.

Fort Collins resident Andrew Hansford, 20, was arrested early

Sunday morning outside Westfall Hall. The CSU Police Department

arrested Hansford in relation to the riot Saturday night on

Bluebell and Plum streets.

Police estimated nearly 600 gathered near the Saturday night

riot, which caused thousands of dollars in damage to city and

personal property.

CSUPD Capt. Bob Chaffee said Hansford was arrested for not

cooperating with officers outside the residence hall. Hansford was

booked and taken into custody on Sunday. He is being charged with

obstructing an officer, a class two misdemeanor, and disobeying

public safety orders during a riot, a class three misdemeanor.

Hansford is not a CSU student and will be prosecuted by the

city.

Fort Collins Police Services arrested five CSU students during

the weekend’s riots. CSU suspended these students pending their

judicial hearings, which began Wednesday, said Brad Bohlander, a

CSU spokesperson.

The CSU judicial board has not reached any disciplinary

conclusions yet.

“The hope is to get (hearings) done as quickly as possible with

due process,” Bohlander said.

As CSU students prepare to go out for their first Friday night

of the school year, both CSUPD and Fort Collins police will be

taking precautions because of last weekends actions.

“We’ve got slightly increased staffing for this weekend and next

weekend,” Chaffee said. He declined to mention specific plans.

Rita Davis, public information officer for FCPS, said the

department has stepped up its forces.

“We were prepared last weekend. We’ll be prepared this weekend

should there be any disturbance,” she said.
