Fire Brief
Firefighters continue to secure fire lines around the perimeter
of the fire, while the last of the evacuees were allowed to return
to their homes at 8 p.m. on Monday.
The blaze that began March 30 claimed 8,900 acres and caused an
estimated $1.9 million in damages, including one home and a garage,
according to a press release from the Larimer County Sheriffs
Office.
Firefighters have reported the fire to be 65 percent contained
and predict fire behavior to be minimal due to cooler temperatures,
higher relative humidity and scattered rain in the afternoon.
Hewlett Gulch Trail and Grey Rock Trail will remain closed
indefinitely, and safety concerns remain for firefighters who are
working in steep rocky terrain. The fire is expected to be
contained today.
