The softball team’s start to conference play was delayed by bad

weather and poor field conditions Saturday. The Rams were slated to

play New Mexico in Albuquerque for a double header. The games were

rescheduled for noon on Sunday but again were cancelled due to the

weather.

The Rams are 22-9 and now have a matchup with in-state rival the

University of Northern Colorado set for noon on Tuesday at Rams

Field.

There is no word on if the games against New Mexico would be

rescheduled.

Volleyball

CSU volleyball coach Tom Hilbert announced that Tess Rogers, the

team’s sophomore outside hitter, will not compete in the 2004

non-traditional spring season of play because of an injury.

Rogers had surgery on her right foot and is expected to be out

for the next four to six weeks. She was the Mountain West

Conference Tournament MVP and led the team in kills in the 2003

season.

The spring season runs throughout April and includes a game

against the University of Denver and tournaments hosted by Kansas

State and Denver.

The regular season begins Aug. 27-28 when the Rams will host the

National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators

Volleyball Classic at Moby Arena. Defending national champion

University of Southern California, Minnesota and Georgia Tech will

join the Rams in the tournament.
