Arts and Entertainment
Tis’ the season for caroling and dancing, even a little of both
if you please, but don’t forget to run your cold toes through the
warm sounds of Fort Collins’ bluegrass scene.
Coming to the Carousel Dinner Theatre Dec. 16, Curious Gage
performs their program, “Wishing You a Merry Christmas.” The
quintet brings their acappella sounds to make your evening warm and
bright with holiday cheer. Joining Curious Gage are special guests
CPR.
Swing into the season with Fort Collins’ Holiday Waltz Night,
Dec. 27. Come at 7 p.m. for a free dance lesson, then waltz to the
music, performed by Eric Levine and Friends from 8 to 11 p.m.
Dressy or holiday attire is optional and snacks and non-alcoholic
drinks are provided. Admission is $8 at the City Park Center. If
you don’t have a partner, don’t let that spoil the fun, everyone is
welcome at Holiday Waltz Night, sponsored by the Friends of
Traditional Dance.
If you haven’t danced your spirit dry yet, be sure to catch the
New Year’s Eve Contra Dance, Dec. 31 at the Lincoln Center in the
Canyon West Room. Also sponsored by the Friends of Traditional
Dance, the 13th annual event is powered by music from More
Delicately Balanced. Get there early for a free lesson 7:30 to 8:30
p.m., then get into the fun from 8:30 p.m. to 12:20 a.m.
Headlining Rasta Pasta’s December schedule this month is an
eclectic array of music. Get to Rasta Pasta by 10 p.m. Friday night
for Wild Wood Ramble, as they display their sounds of “bluegrass
and beyond.” Saturday Jitty Ride and Rusty Bucket pull out their
electric blues style at 10 p.m. for a smooth run through their
licks. Dec. 20 White Water Ramble picks their wide variety of
songs, including country, jazz, blues, bluegrass and covers of the
Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic.
Avogadro’s Number offers plenty of opportunities to swing with a
bluegrass vibe this month. Tomorrow night from 6 to 8 p.m. the T
Band brings their bluegrass sounds to town, with no admission
charge. Following the T Band is Walden Wofford and the Hi Beams,
starting at 8 p.m. for a cover fee of $5. Saturday get to
Avogadro’s at 8 p.m. for the modern rocking sounds of You Call That
Art. Dec. 19 the McDailey Trio busts out the pickin’ and lick
flickin’ sounds of their bluegrass machine, for free from 6-8 p.m.
Following the Trio, get down with Cow Town Boogie at 8 p.m. for a
cover charge of $5. Rounding it all off, come back on Dec. 21 to
hear local musicians collaborating for Big Band Music. Entrance is
free and donations are appreciated.
