Food court restaurants to open soon
After months of anticipation, the Lory Student Center Food Court
renovations are coming to a finish.
The food court, which opened last month, is allowing students to
come in and use the facility.
Though many of the restaurants are not yet opened, Kris Folsom,
coordinator for the student center, said students are already
benefiting from the new design.
“The minute we opened the doors students came in,” Folsom
said.
With the opening of the newly designed Bagel Place on Tuesday,
Folsom said more restaurants are opening soon.
That’s a Wrap and Wishbone are finishing up menu tests and will
be opening in the next couple weeks, while Taco Johns will open
sometime this month Folsom said.
Panda Express will start business at the beginning of next
semester.
“I like it. I’ve been coming in for the last week,” said Darcie
Howe, a food and nutrition freshman.
Howe said she likes the new design and thinks the finished
product was worth the wait.
“(The food court) looks really good,” Howe said.
Howe, who did not come to eat at the student center before, said
since the opening she has been coming to the student center for
lunch.
The extra space is one of the biggest benefits, Ho we said, who
finds the new food court to be a good place to get out of the cold
weather.
“I hope they turn on the fireplace soon,” Howe said.
Though new restaurants are opening, business has not slowed down
for the restaurants that have been open all semester.
“We’re always busy,” said Amy Walker, an employee for the Bagel
Place 2.
Though the newly renovated Bagel Place is bigger and has more
toasters, Walker said business has yet to slow down for the
downstairs location.
“I would say the students are enjoying the new food court,” she
said.
The food court is not the only renovation to the student
center.
The Cherokee Park and North ballrooms opened last week after
getting new lighting and wall covering, Folsom said.
The ballrooms are already opened for rent space and events and
have had several events already.
The Rambouillet restaurant space is currently being converted to
office space to solve many of the space problems the student center
has had in the past, Folsom said.
