The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department arrested the man they believe committed multiple arsons in the Fort Collins area over the past two years.
Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden announced the arrest of Thomas William Lehman for a series of arsons that occurred in the Fort Collins and Larimer County area from February 2000 to April 2002.
Lehman, who operated Northern Range Fire Protection in Fort Collins, is a suspect in almost 30 arson fires in the area. Some of the fires he is charged with setting were located in the 6000 block of College Avenue, the 3000 block of East Mulberry Road, the 3000 block of County Road 7 and the industrial park area of East Mulberry Lane.
Officials first considered Lehman a possible suspect after receiving a tip from an undisclosed source. An investigation followed, leading to the issue of a multi-count felony warrant by Larimer County District Attorney’s Office for Lehman.
Lehman was arrested at his father’s home in Joliet, Illinois and is currently in custody in Illinois pending extradition to Larimer County on charges of First Degree Arson and Second Degree Burglary.
