The CSU women’s swimming and diving team spent the weekend in Oklahoma City, competing in the Mountain West Conference Championships. The Rams’ 565 total points earned them a third-place finish behind BYU (601) and UNLV (575).
Top finishers for the Rams include sophomore Kristen Schneider, whose third place in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:01.33, and senior Lindsey Carlaw, who placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.67. Carlaw and Schneider both made times that provisionally qualified them for the NCAAs.
Sophomore Corinne Hofstetter and freshman Rebecca Zarazan also had strong showings in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, from a field of 16 swimmers.
The CSU relay team of Schneider, Carlaw, junior Kristen Knudson and sophomore Katie Peck swam the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:25.18, good enough for second place.
The swimmers who qualified will compete at the NCAA Championships from March 21-23 in Austin, Texas. n
